How to Troubleshoot HP ZV6000 LCD Problems
- 1). Ensure the AC adapter is connected if you get a blank screen. Many blank screen issues are caused by battery problems. If reconnecting the power solves the problem, you may have an issue with battery charge.
- 2). Check whether the screen resumes from standby. If it doesn't, confirm that the Windows XP power management is set correctly. Displays sometimes time out and don't recover. This problem is fixed in Windows XP Service Pack 2. Install Microsoft Windows Service Pack 2. In the Windows Control Panel Security Settings, enable automatic updates.
- 3). Close and reopen Windows Media Player if the normal video display resolution alters to a different setting. This is caused by hibernation occurring when Windows Media Player is in full-screen mode. Avoid having the computer go into hibernation by keeping the battery topped up.
- 4). Hold the Fn key down and press the F4 key once or twice if the display turns off when you connect the PC to a docking station. You can also bring the display back on by closing and opening the display panel.
- 5). Hold the Fn key down and press F7 or the F8 keys to increase or decrease the brightness if you have problems with the display being too dim or too bright. Sometimes a very dim display is due to a stuck lid actuator. Plug the computer into the main power to see if there's a battery problem.
