How to Reset the BIOS Password on a Compaq Evo N620c

    • 1). Shut down the Compaq Evo N620c, close the cover and disconnect it from all electrical sources.

    • 2). Turn the Compaq Evo N620c over with the front facing toward you.

    • 3). Slide the battery release latch, located to the right of the battery compartment, and lift the battery out, pulling up the right side first. The battery compartment is located on the bottom of the laptop at the left-hand side toward the front of the laptop, closest to you.

    • 4). Remove the two screws holding the cover of the mini-PCI compartment in place and lift up the left side of the cover to pull it off. This compartment is just to the right of the battery compartment toward the front side of the Compaq Evo N620c.

    • 5). Use the flat-head screwdriver to remove the small, round RTC battery found at the left side of the mini-PCI compartment closest to the front of the laptop.

    • 6). Wait at least five minutes.

    • 7). Replace the RTC battery with the + side facing up.

    • 8). Replace the lid of the mini-PCI compartment and secure it in place with the screws.

    • 9). Plug the power cord into the laptop and turn it on. Do not reinstall the battery at this time. Verify that the password and CMOS settings are cleared.

      Replace the battery upon verification that the password is gone.
