- 1). Plug the external hard disk drive into a wall outlet to power on.
- 2). Attach the external hard disk drive to the computer via a USB port.
- 3). Go to "Start" > "My Computer" if using a PC, or click on the "Finder" icon on a Mac.
- 4). Locate the external hard disk drive icon. Double-click on the icon to open the drive and view the contents.
- 5). Double-click the desired file on the drive to open it on the computer.
