How to Calculate the Dynamic Range
- 1). Locate the maximum voltage that usually is found on the device. The value cannot be calculated because it is fixed based on the device you are utilizing. The value is important in the use of calculating the dynamic range.
- 2). Locate the specification of the "Input Noise." Use conversion factors to change Vrms unit. Ensure you convert the maximum voltage into Vrms as well.
- 3). Divide the maximum voltage by the minimum voltage that is derived from the Input noise specification. This number is the ratio. To convert to decibels, multiply the ratio by log10. Multiply the resulting number by 20 to determine final dynamic range in decibels.
