They are cheap and an inexpensive way to control current in a circuit. Film type are another type of resistors used in electrical devices. Wire wound are used in electrical device requiring high current handling requirement. In such a wire is coiled and thus it can also be used as inductor. This type of resistor should not be used in AC circuits. Precision resistors are widely used in medical equipment like ultrasound, imaging and various other biomedical technologies. Current sensing resistors are a new concept and also one of the fastest used technologies nowadays. With new technology and product being evolved every day these are considered the future of resistors. High voltage are the most common for industrial uses.

We may not realize but without the use of a resistor no electrical device is complete. It helps in balancing the current which is flowing in the device. In case of high current it control the flow of the current and vice-versa id also true. For big industries where electrical equipment is used constantly high voltage resistors become very crucial. For an industry it comes under security measures to use correct resistors because a large number of employees are at risk there. As the equipment and their power equipment and their power requirement vary so does the resistor used in the equipment. It is very important to use the correct resistor in any electrical device.
