How to Clean a Smudge Off a TV
- 1). Turn off our television, and unplug it from the electrical outlet.
- 2). Wipe down the television screen with your anti-static or microfiber cloth, removing any built-up dust from the screen. Wipe gently, as you don't want to damage the screen's coating. This should clean up your entire screen, except for the smudge.
- 3). Purchase a cleaning solution made specifically for your type of television screen. The glass of an LCD screen is not the same as the glass of a Plasma, so the wrong cleaner can damage the screen. Do not use cleaners that you have lying around the house, especially cleaners that contain alcohol, thinner or benzine, as these can damage some screen types.
- 4). Apply the cleaner to your cloth so that it is damp, but not dripping.
- 5). Rub the dampened area of the cloth over the smudge. Move the cloth is small circles, and only apply a light amount of force to the screen. Continue until the smudge is gone, reapplying the solution to the cloth if necessary.
