Instructions: Installation or Removal of a Radio in the Dash in a 2007 Honda CRV
- 1). Set the CR-V's parking brake. Turn the ignition to the "Run" position, but do not start the CR-V. Move the gear shifter to its lowest gear -- its rearmost position. Turn the Ignition to the "Off" position.
- 2). Protect the CR-V's plastic dash area by wrapping the blade of a flat-head screwdriver in a layer of duct tape. Add more tape as needed throughout the removal process, as some tape may wear off during the process.
- 3). Insert the blade of a flat-head screwdriver in the seam between the heating-and-air-conditioning controls and the dashboard. Pry outward around the perimeter of the heating-and-air-conditioning controls to disengage the retaining clips securing the controls in the dashboard.
- 4). Pull the heating-and-air-conditioning controls outward until you can access the wiring on the rear of the controls. Press and hold the unlocking button on the wiring harness on the rear of the controls and pull the wiring harness from the controls. Set the heating-and-air-conditioning controls in a secure area.
- 5). Find the small, square panel on top of the dashboard, just behind the center air vents. Pry upward on the panel to disengage its retaining clips and pull it off the dashboard. Set this panel in a secure area.
- 6). Pull the center air vent panel from the top to disengage its retaining clips. Pull the panel away from the dashboard until you can access the wiring harness plugged into the rear of the hazard switch. Press and hold the unlocking button on the hazard switch wiring harness and pull the harness from the switch. Remove the air vent panel and set it in a secure
location. - 7). Remove the four radio retaining screws with a Phillips screwdriver. Slide the radio from the dashboard until you can reach the wiring on the rear of the radio. Press and hold the unlock button on each of the radio's wiring harnesses and pull each harness from the radio. Pull the antenna wire from the rear of the radio. Remove the radio from the dashboard.
- 8). Plug the wiring harnesses and antenna lead into their respective receptacles on the rear of the radio -- they are all different sizes, so they can only fit one way. Slide the radio into the dashboard and tighten the radio retaining screws with a Phillips screwdriver.
- 9). Set the air vent panel back on the upper part of the dashboard, lining up the clips on the rear of the panel with the slots in the dashboard. Press the air vent panel onto the dashboard to lock it into place.
