How to Break Up an MP4 Into Smaller Chunks
- 1). Download and install Free Video Splitter from the Free Video Splitter website. Free Video Splitter is a freeware application that lets you split videos using a numerical start and end time.
- 2). Open Free Video Splitter and click the "Load File" button. Click the drop-down list for file types and select "MP4 Files (*MP4)." Select your video and click "Open."
- 3). Click the "Start Time:" box and type the desired video start time in hours, minutes and seconds, using a colon between the hours and minutes and minutes and seconds. For example, you would type "00:03:05" to make the video start at three minutes and five seconds. Click the "End Time" box and type the desired video stop time using the same format.
- 4). Click the "Output Directory" button and select a location to save the split video. Click "Split" to break up the video using the selected start and stop time. You can now repeat this process until you finish breaking up the entire video.
- 1). Download and install AimOne Video Splitter from the AimOne website. The program comes in a trial version that lasts for 15 days and has a video file limit of two minutes. You can also purchase the paid version without these limitations.
- 2). Launch AimOne Video Splitter and click the "Open" button on the main program window. Locate and double-click your video to open it in the program. Your video will then start playing in the program's video pane.
- 3). Click the "{" button to create a starting point as the video plays, and click "}" to set an ending point. Press the "Play" button to continue playback after you set each starting and ending point. You can create multiple start and stop points to break up the entire video into chunks.
- 4). Click the "Split Into Equal-Size Clips" option to the right of the video if you would rather break the video up into equal-size clips. Select a number of clips to create from the drop-down menu that appears, or manually type a number in the menu's field.
- 5). Click "Split Now." Click "Browse" to select the output folder and click "OK" twice to start the process. Click "Close" after the process completes.
- 1). Download and install ImTOO Video Splitter 2 from the ImTOO website. You can purchase the full version or download the trial version that lets you split up to three videos.
- 2). Launch ImTOO Video Splitter 2 and click the folder button in the bottom pane. Locate your MP4 video in the dialog box and click "Open."
- 3). Click "Play" to view the video and create split points during playback. Click the lightning bolt icon to create each stop point. Repeat the process until the video finishes playing.
- 4). Click the "Split Automatically" option if you would rather manually split the video. Click "Split Every Minute(s)," "Split Every MB" or "Split Into Segment(s) Averagely," and type a value in the text box corresponding with the option you selected.
- 5). Click "Split" to view the output settings. Type a file name and select a destination to place the chunks. Click "OK" to break up the video. Click "Done" after the process completes.
