How to Draw a Rainbow Eye

    • 1). Draw an eye as you typically would; any style will do. Do not add the pupil or iris.

    • 2). Draw in the outline of the iris and pupil. You may want to make the iris much larger than normal so that your coloring shows up well.

    • 3). Color the pupil black, dark blue or dark brown.

    • 4). Color the area at the very top of the iris blue; this will blend in with the natural shading found under the top lid and will make the eye seem more natural. Use strokes that run from the edge of the iris to the pupil to imitate the muscles in a real iris.

    • 5). Use yellow to color the lower left of the iris if the light is coming from the left, or the lower right if the light is coming from the right. Color the opposite side red. This will imitate how light looks when it shines on a normal eye. Use strokes that run from the edge of the iris to the pupil. Leave some area between each of the three colors blank.

    • 6). Color the area between the blue and red purple. Color the area between red and yellow orange. Color the area between yellow and blue green. Color gently until all six colors blend into each other smoothly.

    • 7). Add details. Use a drawing pen or a dark pencil to add a dark ring around the edge of the iris; this will both make your work stand out more and hide any small mistakes. The pen can also be used to enhance the eyelashes or make the pupil darker. Use the gel pen to add highlights and shine to your eye.
