A variety of dragons have stemmed from fantasy and folk tales over the ages. While all beasts of this nature are exciting and have an element of thrill about them, some are definitely cool while still being easy to draw. - Medieval dragons are always fun to draw. This type of dragon usually has an emphasis on the wings and can be very colorful. Using curved lines instead of sharp edges, you can make sure this dragon turns out well. Medieval dragons can walk on all fours or have two large and two shorter legs for standing in an upright position. This flexibility allows you to work with whatever style suits you best.
- Asian dragons have thinner eyes, wispy hair and long tails. Many times they end up looking like long, thick serpents with majestic faces and four legs. Use more edgy lines as well as blues or reds with this type of dragon.
- Cartoon dragons are perhaps the easiest to draw and the most fun to experiment with. Rounded features including wings, fire breaths and feet can add humor to a cartoon depiction. For an anime or more realistic cartoon look, use lines with direction that flow into the wings. This feature of the anatomy should take up a good amount of proportion compared to the body of the animal.
