After years in the furniture industry, I left my dead-end career and got "drafted" into the ever-growing and lucrative on-line business industry. Here's how I quit being a spectator and became a star player.

The question to ask yourself is, where are you? Are you in the stands talking about the game or are you on the field calling out the next play? Millions are making the jump to online opportunities because of the economy or whatever; job loss, dry industries, worn out careers. I should know, I left a comfortable service industry position after an hours- and pay-reduction. At first I thought "Wow, thanks for letting me keep my job," but in reality it left me at a crossroads. Was I going to settle for less than I deserved, in exchange for "job-security"? I needed to make a decision about my future.
People who are in the online marketing business are decision makers; they are the ones who are out making plays and getting dirty. I wanted that! I didn't know it yet but I wanted to make a difference in my family, for my wife, kids, and parents. It seemed like everyone around me was eventually going to be dependant on me and my current career wasn't cutting it anymore and didn't provide security. I knew I could have success online but I was comfortable in my job and not used to making big decisions. It was easy to just wait for a promotion and a pay-raise. Well, not anymore.
See, that was the point where I decided to get in the game. It's one thing sitting in the stands or on the couch in my living-room saying what the players "should have done". It's easy to have all the right answers when you're not the one about get tackled by a 250-pound linesman. Joining the online marketing community can feel like that sometimes, except maybe it's bankruptcy, foreclosure, or other money problems staring at you across the line of scrimmage. Regardless, it all came down to what I was going to do. I decided to go into business for myself. I decided to be in charge; in charge of my whole day......
Sure I got knocked around in the beginning and you will too. It's been an incredible and difficult transition at times; but there is something to be said for all the arm-chair quarterbacks out there who are on the fence about getting into the internet marketing game. When the game ball is handed to you, are you going to run with it and play the game to win? I'm playing to win, I want to be part of the celebration after a job well done, a championship win.
The most important thing is to make a decision, yes or no, that's it. Opportunity is out there just waiting for you. Have fun looking and play the game to win.
