    • 1). Place the subwoofer and the four speakers where you want them. The subwoofer should be placed on the ground in the center of the arrangement. The two speakers that have the shorter wires are intended to be used as the front speakers while the two with long wires are to be used as the rear speakers. Place the speakers accordingly.

    • 2). Connect each speaker wire to the appropriate input on the back of the subwoofer. The inputs are labeled with the location of the speaker, for example "front right." Be sure to connect each one correctly as the sound may come out distorted if the speakers are not in the correct position. The front speakers should be placed on the desk to the left and right of your monitor while the rear speakers should be placed behind your chair. Use the floor stand attachments if necessary.

    • 3). Connect the volume control to the outputs on the back of the subwoofer. Connect the other cords coming from the volume control to the "Speaker" inputs on your computer's sound card. Connect the power adapter to the subwoofer and plug the other end into an open wall outlet.

    • 4). Press the "Power" button on the back of the subwoofer to turn on the surround sound system. Turn on your computer and open a music or video file to test the equipment. Adjust the knob on the volume control to a comfortable level. Adjust the knob on the back of the subwoofer to adjust the base level to a setting that sounds good to you.
