1). Decide what scent the anointing oil should be. One herb or a combination of two or more can be used. Choose the oil that you want. Vegetable, extra virgin olive, almond, or jojoba work well.
2). Gather the herbs needed. Fill the jar loosely with the herbs. Do not chop the herbs into small pieces.
3). Fill the jar to the top with oil. The oil used is up to your personal preference. Replace the cover on the jar. The cover needs to fit tight to avoid leaking.
4). Turn the jar upside down after the first eight hours. Alternate upside down and right side up every eight hours for the first day.
5). Strain the oil though the cheese cloth. Return the oil to the jar. Do not add fresh oil. Discard the used herbs.
6). Add fresh herbs to the jar. Seal the jar. Continue steps 4 and 5 for two additional days. Total preparation time is three days. The jar is turned every eight hours.
7). Strain for the last time. Pour the anointing oil into smaller bottles with tight seals. Store in a cool and dark location.
