Step-by-Step for How to Draw 3-Dimensional Numbers

Write the numbers in a block-style font onto your paper. Large, bulky numbers with clear corners will work best for the 3D technique. View fonts in your word processor as a guide if you're having trouble. It will also help to fit each character inside a rectangle as you draw it. - 2). Choose an area on your paper to be your vanishing point. All of your numbers will align and appear to go back in space toward this spot. Lightly draw an X to mark it.

Measure a straight line, or perspective line, from each corner of your numbers to the vanishing point. Draw lightly and be careful to keep the lines accurate. Omit the spaces where lines travel through other numbers. For rounded numbers that don't have a corner, such as 0, draw a line from the vanishing point to the top and bottom of the curve. - 4). Decide how far back you want your numbers to extend. With the perspective lines going all the way to the vanishing point, the characters appear to go back infinitely. If you want them to stop, lightly pencil the same number shape into the receding lines behind it. It might help to picture the second number as a shadow or a projection, with the original number always in front.
- 5). Connect the front numbers to the back numbers in all of the visible places. Each line that you draw at this stage will be parallel to one from the original number. Erase any lines that interrupt the original number shape.
- 6). Look over your drawing and erase any perspective lines that do not form a part of the 3D numbers. Neaten up the numbers and ensure that all of them extend back toward the vanishing point. Your 3D lettering is now in one-point perspective.
