Can You Watch an AVI and an MPEG on a BlackBerry?
- Blackberry phones are designed to play AVI files. If you have any videos on your computer with the .avi file extension, you can watch them on your phone.
- Taking as an example the Bold 9700, first connect your phone to the computer via the USB wire that comes with the phone. Your Blackberry will ask whether you wish to turn on Mass Storage Mode--select "Yes." Select the AVI file that you want, right-click on it, select "Send to" and choose your Blackberry.
- Once uploaded, simply go into the menu screen by pressing the Blackberry logo button. Select 'Media', then select 'Videos', and finally choose the video you wish to see.
- If your video file is MPEG (i.e. the file name is *.mpeg), it will not play on a Blackberry in its current format, as the phone's software is not compatible.
- Use a converter if you wish to view an MPEG file on your Blackberry. Websites such as Any Video Converter, Media-Convert or Zamzar (see links in Resources) can convert MPEG files to AVI.
