- 1). Locate the installation software that came packaged with your wireless card. Load the software into your computer and run the installer program. Follow the onscreen instructions.
- 2). Insert your wireless PC card into the PC-card slot on the left side of the computer, near the rear. If the "Found New Hardware" dialog window appears on your computer, follow the onscreen directions.
- 3). Open the "Start" menu on your computer and select "Control Panel." Open the Network Connections Control Panel. Click on the "Wireless Network Connection" icon. Select "Change Settings of This Connection" from the "Network Tasks" options.
- 4). Select the "Wireless Networks" tab. Click on the button marked "Add." Enter the name of your wireless network in the appropriate text box and click "OK."
- 5). Select your wireless network from the "Preferred Network" field and click on the "Properties" button. If you are connecting to an open wireless network, set Network Authentication to "Open" and Data Encryption to "Disabled." If you are connecting to a secured network, select the appropriate options from the "Network Authentication" and "Data Encryption" menus and, if required, enter your network key. (If no network key is required, confirm that the appropriate check box is marked). Click "OK." Your wireless PC card is now ready for use.
