How to Disassemble an HP Ipaq 4700

    • 1). Turn off the iPAQ 4700 and remove the memory card from it, if there's one inside.

    • 2). Slide the battery pack out of the back of the iPAQ 4700.

    • 3). Use the Torx T6 screwdriver to extract the four screws from the back of the iPAQ 4700.

    • 4). Remove the plastic covering from the top-right corner of the back of the iPAQ 4700.

    • 5). Insert a small flat-blade screwdriver or plastic wedge into the seam on the side of the iPAQ 4700 and slide it all the way around the seam to separate the front and back halves.

    • 6). Remove the back cover from the iPAQ 4700.

    • 7). Extract the screw at the bottom-left corner of the iPAQ.

    • 8). Disconnect the two ribbon cables on the bottom-right corner.

    • 9). Extract the screw from the bottom of the circuit board on the right side of the iPAQ.

      Lift the bottom of the circuit board from which you just removed the screw to disconnect it from the motherboard, then disconnect the cable on it from the motherboard. Set the circuit board aside.

      Extract the screw to the right of the circuit board cable connector.

      Lift the motherboard out of the iPAQ.

      Extract the screw from the top-left and top-right corners of the iPAQ and remove the metal bracket that they hold in place.

    • 14

      Use a flat-blade screwdriver or plastic wedge to pry the at the rubber and plastic tabs on the right side of the iPAQ so the screen can be removed. Once you release the tabs, lift the screen out of the front cover.
