The Three Main Ingredients of Great Hair Salon Names
1. Personality. A salon is something that is uniquely personal, not only to you and your staff but also to your customers. It can be like a home away from home to them or it can be like a cold clinical stop off. The more personality is put into your salon's name then the more personal it is on all levels to everyone involved. A great name can act as a hook that gets people to just walk in off the street, especially if it evokes something to them.
2. Location. You have to consider all that lies around your business, from the winding streets of a tiny town, to the vast sprawling skyscrapers of the city. Think about your location. The hills, the nearby forests, the winding streams, the roaring of the ocean, or lazy curving beaches. Place is something that writers use in order to generate a solid foundation. They say that if you look after place then the characters look after themselves. It's true as well. So when naming your salon, tap into the place. The landscape tells its own story, and the history around your salon will give you ideas about what you want to call your salon. Imagine you happen to be situated out in a windy peninsula next to the ocean, hounded by the roaring ocean winds, there's a thousand ideas just in that one image. Now imagine the thousands of other aspects of the landscape that might lend themselves for your hair salon's name.
3. Catchy. The whole point of the name is to give people something simple they can relate to your business. It's a quick hook that can carry their whole experience of your business. If it's something catchy then a client will remember you and be more inclined to stop by. A catchy name is something that people can relate to, it's something that's appealing, and something that is interesting as well. That might seem like a tall order, but if you do enough brainstorming then you'll soon come up with one that does the trick. Don't let yourself be put off by the fact that picking a name and coming up with name ideas is hard. Catchy names aren't the easiest to come up with but the extra effort is well worth it. There are a few things you can do to help you brainstorm. Carry around a notebook, a journalist's note pad is ideal, and a pen, and take notes whenever you get ideas for possible hair salon names. If you keep at it then soon your list will be extensive. At that stage, transfer the best ten percent over to a master list and repeat this process. Soon you'll have a list of good names. Then transfer the top ten percent over to a list of excellent names. You can do this as often as you like, it's a bit like panning for gold. Soon though you'll find a name that really stands out.
