Sound Blaster Instructions
- 1). Unplug your computer. In order to avoid personal injury, remove all wires connected to your computer. In addition to electric shock, there also are moving parts on the interior of the unit.
- 2). Open up your computer tower. There should be a relatively simple method to open your unit, via one or two screws, or a latch. If you find yourself needing help opening your computer, simply visit the company's website and determine how to open the tower via the online manual.
- 3). Locate the PCI slot. On the back-side of your computer, you will notice one or two empty bays, possibly next to the slot that houses the Internet connections. On the interior, you will notice that these empty bays correspond to empty PCI slots. A PCI slot is a long slot utilized for connecting hardware to your computer.
- 4). Remove an empty PCI slot cover. Undo the screw holding in one of the PCI slot covers, and remove the cover.
- 1). Insert the Sound Blaster sound card. Using care not to touch the metallic connector, gently insert the card into the empty slot. It should fit in snugly and be perfectly flush with the back side.
- 2). Secure the Sound Blaster card to the PC. Using the same screw that came from the cover, attach the card to the PC. If inserted correctly, the card should be perfectly aligned with the screw hole on the PC.
- 3). Close up the computer tower, reconnect all wires you removed before and start your computer.
- 4). Install the drivers. Every new device needs to have the proper drivers in order for it to work. So, with everything put together, the auto-detect function should determine what item you have and take you via the Internet to the appropriate driver to install. If this does not happen automatically, simply install the Sound Blaster driver disc that was included with the Sound Blaster sound card and follow the instructions.
