How to Install a Hyundai Stereo
- 1). Raise the Hyundai's hood. Turn the bolt on the negative battery cable clam two full turns with the 10mm socket wrench or pliers. Lift the cable from the battery terminal and set it aside. Move to the vehicle's interior.
- 2). Pull the ashtray completely from the dashboard. Remove the screws in the back of the ashtray compartment with the Phillips-head screwdriver. Grab the two bottom corners of the center dash panel and pull it away from the dash by hand. Set the panel aside.
- 3). Remove the two screws on either side of the Hyundai's stereo bracket with the screwdriver. Slide the radio from the dashboard stereo dock and disconnect the stereo wiring and antenna cable from the back of the unit.
- 4). Insert the installation cage (included with the new stereo) into the Hyundai's stereo dock. Feed the stereo and antenna cables through the back of the cage. Fold the metal tabs in the cage outward with the flat screwdriver to secure it within the dock.
- 5). Connect the stereo wiring connectors and wiring harness adapter leads. Plug the wiring harness adapter lead connectors into the outlets on the back of the new stereo. Connect the antenna lead with the AM/FM antenna input on the rear panel of the new stereo.
- 6). Slide the stereo into the installation cage. Push the unit into the dock until it locks in place within the stereo dock.
- 7). Place the main dash panel onto the Hyundai's dashboard. Press the panel against the dash until it snaps into place. Replace the screws in the back of the ashtray compartment. Replace the ashtray. Move back to the battery.
- 8). Place the negative battery cable's clamp back onto the negative battery terminal. Tighten the bolt on the clamp with the wrench or pliers. Close the Hyundai's hood.
