Attempt to Log In Using Default Accounts

    • 1). Attempt to log in to the device using default username and password combinations. Netgear has multiple possible defaults.

    • 2). For most Netgear home routers, try: admin/password or admin/1234.

    • 3). For Netgear ReadyNas, try: admin/infrant1 or admin/netgear1.

    • 4). For Layer 2 or Layer 3 devices, try: admin/(blank) or (blank)/(blank), which requires just hitting enter through both fields.

Reset the Netgear Equipment to Factory Defaults

    • 1). Locate the "reset" button on the back or bottom of the equipment.

    • 2). Press and hold the "reset" button until the test lights on the device begin to flash. Release the button once this happens.

    • 3). Log in to the router. This requires your computer to be physically connected, as all wireless settings will be gone.

    • 4). Set a new password and reconfigure your settings.
