- 1). Plug the converter box's DC adapter cord into it, and then into a wall plug.
- 2). Insert an HDMI cable into the converter box's "HDMI" output connection. Insert the other end of the HDMI cable into the desired device -- such as your HDTV.
- 3). Connect a coaxial or optical audio cable to the converter box -- both of these connections support 5.1 audio -- and then connect the other end of the cable to your source device.
- 4). Connect a component cable to the connections on the converter box, and then connect the other end to your source device. Your separate 5.1 audio and video connections have now been converted to HDMI.
