- 1). Open the BlackBerry Desktop Manager on your computer. If you do not have it, you can download it for free from the BlackBerry website under the "Support" section. See "Resources" for a link.
- 2). Attach your BlackBerry phone to the computer using the USB cable that came with it at purchase. If you do not have this, a standard universal USB/mini USB cable will work. Plug the smaller end into the corresponding outlet on the BlackBerry and the larger end into an open USB slot on your computer.
- 3). Click "Backup and Restore" in the manager.
- 4). Select "Backup."
- 5). Create a file name and select a location for the backed up files.
- 6). Click "Save."
- 7). Wait for the process to finish before disconnecting your device.
