    • Rehab administrators, such as executives and directors, are responsible for designing policies and the overall goals of a rehab institute. They plan various operational activities and ensure that their staff members perform essential day-to-day tasks. Rehab administrators prepare budgets and evaluate the performance of their institute on a regular basis in order to maximize their investment returns. While the minimum education requirement for rehab administration jobs is a bachelor's degree, some employers may require a master's degree or higher.

    Health Care Professionals

    • Doctors, psychiatrists and nurses are licensed medical professionals who play a key role in the operation of a rehab institute. A physician who specializes in substance abuse addiction evaluates rehab clients and recommends a treatment plan. Nurses are required in cases where clients may need medical attention or treatments like prescription medication or intravenous nutrient replacements prior to starting a rehabilitation program. Psychiatrists who work at rehab centers work with clients who have substance abuse related emotional and behavioral problems. Rehab health care professionals deliver their services to outpatient and inpatient clients.

    Social Service

    • Counselors and social workers must be licensed to work in all 50 states. The minimum education requirement for counseling and social work careers at a rehab institute is a master's degree. Counselors and social workers perform a wide array of services such as crisis intervention, group therapy, educational programs, outreach and one-on-one counseling. They also work with the family members of rehab clients and provide their clients with effective strategies for avoiding a relapse.

    Considerations

    • Individuals with advanced degrees can work in rehab research. Rehab jobs are available at hospitals, halfway houses, community mental health centers and correctional facilities. Depending on the rehab center, some positions may require professionals to work in specialized programs for young adults, women and men. Other rehab related jobs include recovery coach, educator, HIV supervisor and detox specialist. Formal education or certificate training is required for most positions in this field.
