How to Replace Inspiron 9100 Video Card Repair

    • 1). Remove any PC cards or disks from the computer. Turn off the computer. Disconnect all devices attached to the computer including the power adapter.

    • 2). Close the display screen. Turn the computer upside down with the bottom facing up. Hold the battery release latch and remove the battery from the computer.

    • 3). Loosen the Phillips screw (labeled "M") securing the memory card cover. Lift the cover. Spread apart the slips on each end of the memory module connector until the module pops up. Remove the memory card at an angle.

    • 4). Locate the hard drive cover next to the CD/DVD drive. Remove the screw securing the drive. Slide the hard drive out of the computer.

    • 5). Remove the hinge covers, which consist of three separate pieces. Turn over the computer (display side up). Open the display screen. Slide the left and right hinge covers (on each side) toward the back of the computer and then to the side, removing them away from the computer. Close the display screen. Press in the two hinge cover snaps and pull up slightly to disengage them. Open the display all the way till flat. Lift the center hinge cover enough to access the cable connector. Use the pull-tab to disconnect the hinge cover cable from the system board.

    • 6). Remove the two screws securing the keyboard at the top. Lift the keyboard up. Slide it toward the display. Hold the keyboard up to disconnect the keyboard connector from the system board.

    • 7). Close and secure the display screen. Turn the computer over, bottom facing up. Remove the four screws (two on each side) labeled "D." Turn the computer over, display side up. Open the display. Disconnect the antenna cables. Disconnect the display cable using the pull-tab. Lift the display unit out of the computer.

    • 8). Remove the four screws securing the keyboard bracket (two in the middle, two at the top). Disconnect the FPC cable from the keyboard bracket. Slightly lift up the keyboard bracket approximately 1 inch toward the back of the computer. Then lift straight up to remove.

    • 9). Remove the four screws securing the video card. Remove the video card by pulling up on it.

      Put your new video card in the same way you took the other one out. Reassemble the computer by doing the steps in reverse.
