    • 1). Turn on your Dish Network set-top box. Keep other devices turned off during the programming process.

    • 2). Find the manufacturer of your set-top box. This can be done by examining the box itself for a name such as Motorola, or referring to the user's manual that came with your Dish Network service. Different areas and types of service have different brands of set-top boxes. If you still aren't sure, you can call Dish Network customer support to find out your brand. Once you know the brand, find the two-digit codes for the manufacturer in the user's guide for your Sharp remote. If you do not have a user's guide, you can find a copy at Sharp's website.

    • 3). Press the "STB" button, which stands for set top box, located near the top of your remote. After you press it once, hold down the "STB" button and the "Display" button at the same time for a few seconds until the "STB" button begins to blink.

    • 4). Use the number buttons in the center of the remote to enter in the first two-digit code that appears for your manufacturer. Hit each number once and do not hold them down. If done correctly, the "STB" button will stop blinking.

    • 5). Push the "STB" button again and aim the Sharp remote at the Dish Network set-top box. Press the "Power" button. The box should turn off. Turn it back on using the Sharp remote and test the buttons to make sure all of them work properly. If not, repeat the programming procedure using the next code on the list until you find one that works fully.
