- 1). Fill a seed flat two-thirds of the way with vermiculite or perlite. Make rows in the flats with your finger that are twice the diameter of the seed. Place the gerbera daisy seeds in these flats.
- 2). Cover the seeds with soil and water them deeply. Stretch plastic wrap tightly across the top of the seed flat. Place the seeds 18 inches under a fluorescent light. Check the soil daily, keeping it moist until the seeds germinate and sprout.
- 3). Transplant the seedlings into individual pots, filled with half peat and half perlite, as soon as leaves appear. Water the daisies, keeping them evenly moist until they start to grow vigorously in this new environment.
- 4). Transplant the gerbera daisies outside as soon as the danger of frost passes. Choose an area with full sun or part shade and well-drained, sandy soil. Place the top of the crown level with the ground. Incorporate two inches of peat into the top six inches of soil before planting.
