How to Install a TV Jack in an Existing Wall
- 1). Measure the width and height of the TV jack. Draw a rectangle on the wall where the video cable is located that matches these measurements, using a pencil and straight edge.
- 2). Cut out the rectangle on the wall using a wallboard saw. Pull the end of the video cable out of the wall. Wipe the surface of the wall clean of dust with a water-moistened paper towel.
- 3). Place one of the two brackets that accompany the TV jack when purchased across the top edge of the cut-out rectangle. Screw the bracket into the wall with wood screws using a Phillips screwdriver. Repeat this procedure with the other bracket that accompanied the TV jack, only placing it across the bottom of the cut-out rectangle.
- 4). Screw the connector on the end of the video cable into the connection socket on the back of the TV jack. Place the TV jack over the cutout on the wall. Screw metal screws through the holes at the top and bottom of the TV jack into the brackets attached to the wall.
