    • 1). Shut the Presario C700 down and close the lid. Remove the battery from its compartment, unplug all cables and place the computer face-down on a desk.

    • 2). Unscrew the two Phillips-head screws on the outside edge of the cover panel in the corner of the Presario C700. Lift the panel from the outside, swinging it up until the tabs on the inside of the cover are clear. Set the panel aside. The metal cage under the panel holds the hard drive.

    • 3). Push the hard-drive cage gently toward the outside of the computer to disengage the edge connectors of the hard drive. Lift the pull tab to remove the Presario C700 drive cage from the computer.

    • 4). Unscrew the two Phillips-head screws holding each side of the Presario C700 hard drive to the cage. Lift the drive out of the cage and replace it with the new hard drive, making sure that the edge connectors on the side of the drive face the open side of the cage. Replace the four screws.

    • 5). Lower the cage into the Presario C700 drive compartment, and push it toward the inside of the computer to engage the edge connectors.

    • 6). Hook the tabs on the side of the corner panel into the holes on the side of the Presario C700 drive compartment. Lower the panel back to its original position and tighten the Phillips-head screws.
