How to Paint Smooth Drywall
- 1). Wipe down all drywall surfaces with microfiber cloths to remove dust that would otherwise mar your paint job.
- 2). Spread dropcloths on the floor around your work area.
- 3). Mix the drywall primer thoroughly and pour into a paint tray.
- 4). Apply the drywall primer in long, even strokes with a roller brush. Let the primer dry for 24 hours. One coat of primer is typically sufficient for drywall. If the primer finish appears uneven, apply a second coat and let dry.
- 5). Paint the dried, primed surface of the drywall with roller brushes for a smooth finish, using a paint formulated for indoor use in the color of your choice.
