In need of some breakup tips? Are you dreading an impending breakup? Breakups are always tough, but you'll get through it.
I can help: There are a few things to remember during your break up that will help breaking up that I'll list here.
Read them carefully -- some sound easy, but are actually tricky to stick to: 1.
If you feel that the person you're dumping won't be able to pull themselves together after the whole thing is over, go ahead and as a mutual friend or maybe a family member for some help with that.
Ask them to contact your ex after the breakup just to make sure if everything is all right.
It's not your job to take care of your ex anymore, but if you have concern, it's OK to ask someone to help out.
2.
If you're worried about your partner being violent when you try to break up with them, don't be alone with them at that time (obviously).
It might not be a very good idea to bring a witness with you, but maybe you could meet in a nice, public place just so that you stay safe.
3.
Do not pick your partner's vulnerability as you break up with them.
Remember that you used to love them, hopefully, and respect their emotions.
Though you may feel mad at them in the moment, it's not the time to vent your anger.
Your objective is to carry out the breakup, not get vindication for whatever grievances you hold against him or her.
4.
You have obviously shared confidential information with each other.
I am sure you most likely already know this, but I am going to say it anyway.
Do NOT share those confidences with anyone, even if it's long after the breakup.
I mean, what's between you two, stays between you two.
No one needs to know about it.
5.
This one is just for you: Be grateful for your relationship, even if it wasn't that great! Are all these relationships that end in a breakup failures? Personally, I don't think so.
They allow us to grow, and they help inform us about what we DO and DON'T want in our future relationship.
Remember, even though breaking up can feel like the end of the world, it happens to most relationships.
Unless you live in a society with arranged marriages, almost everyone goes through a series of relationships before finding a permanent long-term relationship.
It's only natural, so don't feel guilty about having to break-up with your partner.
