How To Write Your First Novel
The first thing you'll need to do is come up with some rich character outlines. Get to know your main character, the supporting characters, and the bad guys as much as you can. Spend plenty of time fleshing them out, and bringing them to life. Create a rich back story for each of them, so they can have a well rounded personality that you won't have to make up on the spot.
Next is to come up with the basic outline of the story. It's got to have a definite beginning, middle, and end. It must have a conflict that won't obviously be overcome. When the good guy beats the bad guy, you've got to raise doubt in the readers minds whether or not he or she can really pull it off.
The resolution is when the bad guy is defeated, and the main character takes on a new life with new responsibilities. This is to give the reader a subconscious feeling of completion and that emotional boost that they were looking for. By vicariously living through your character's triumph, they'll be able to look toward their life with renewed confidence and vigor.
Once you've got the basic story laid out, you've got to set up each particular beat. This is each element, or "scene." For example, when watching movies, most scenes don't last very long. They keep changing to keep the viewers interest. Together they make up the whole story. You've got to do the same, break down your entire story into scenes. For a regular length novel, you should have at least a hundred scenes.
Once this is done, the writing is easy. Simply write out each scene. Writing what happens will be easy, since you know the characters well enough to know how they'll act. Writing their dialogues should be easy, since you know them well enough to know how they speak and behave.
When you take your novel in step by step fashion like this, you are certain to have a winner. Just keep on writing, and some day soon, you'll be rich and famous.
