How to Hook Up Passive Speakers to an Analog Mixer
- 1). Unplug the amplifier from the electricity before connecting any components.
- 2). Cut a speaker wire for each passive speaker and remove 1/2 inch of plastic coating from the two wires on each end.
- 3). Connect the left and right passive speakers to the left and right audio terminals on the amplifier. The plain wire connects to the black terminal. The colored or striped wire connects to the red terminal.
- 4). Hook up a stereo cable from the two "Master OUT" jacks on the back edge or top of the mixer to a set of stereo inputs on the amplifier. Most RCA-type stereo cables have red and white plug connectors on each end. Connect the white plug to the left channel on the mixer output and the amplifier input. The red plug goes into the right channel on each component.
- 5). Reconnect the amplifier power cord.
