How to Install Rubber Pond Liners
- 1). Calculate the length and width you will need your pond liner to be. It is better for you to purchase too large of a liner than too small. The formula to determine width is pond width + (pond depth x 2) + 6 inches. The formula to determine length is pond length + (pond depth x 2) + 6 inches.
- 2). Spread your liner so that it is all the way open, and lay it over your pond. Do not try to push it down into the pond -- gravity and water pressure will contour it to fit your pond.
- 3). Place large rocks or bricks along the edges of the liner to hold it in place. Smooth out any bulges in the part of your liner hanging over the pond.
- 4). Begin filling the pond with water. As the pond is being filled, continue to smooth out any lumps or wrinkles that form in your liner.
- 5). Reposition the rocks or bricks along the edges when the liner is tight. The liner will continue to sink into the pond as more water is put in. So, you may need to reposition them a few times, depending on the size of your pond.
