- 1). Connect one end of the RCA cables to the output ports on the satellite receiver. Make sure to match the color of the plug to the port into which it is being plugged -- for example, yellow plug into yellow port. Take a moment to verify you are using the output ports and not the input ports. Your satellite receiver will likely feature both.
- 2). Attach the other end of the RCA cables to your VCR or DVD recorder's RCA inputs. Again, match each plug's color to the corresponding port.
- 3). Insert a blank VHS or DVD into the recording device and press record. You are now recording the video and audio output from your satellite receiver onto a DVD or VHS.
