The Propagation of Dragon Fruit Seeds
- You can access the dragonfruit's seeds by slicing the dragonfruit in half and removing the mass of pulp and black seeds from the center of the fruit. Remove the pulp completely -- any pulp that clings to the seeds can cause them to rot.
- Plant your dragonfruit seeds in a pot filled with a coarse planting mix such as sand or a potting soil used for cacti and succulents. Cover the pot with clear plastic, and place the pot in moderate sunlight until the seed germinates in about two weeks.
- You'll need to keep the dragonfruit seedlings in a warm, sunny spot for several months. Plant each seedling in an individual pot when it develops a sturdy, spiny stem. The soil should be watered sparingly and kept moderately dry.
