    • 1). Turn off your input and output devices. Position them to access the input and output panels, typically located at the back of the device.

    • 2). Locate the HD AV inputs on your TV or receiver. These outlets will consist of three plugs--green, blue and light red--for video, and white and dark red plugs for audio.

    • 3). Connect the five plugs on one end of your HD AV cable to their respective sockets. The three video plugs typically will be bunched together to avoid confusing the red video and audio signals.

    • 4). Connect the cable to the HD output of your disk player or games console. For DVD and Blu-Ray players, the HD AV output is exactly the same as the input slots of your television or receiver; games consoles such as Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 feature a single plug that connects to the machine's AV port. This plug features a switch that must be set to "HDTV."

    • 5). Turn on your television or receiver. Switch to the HD input channel. Turn on the output device.

    • 6). Open the device's menu. Adjust the "Output" setting to "720p" or "1080p" (depending on the maximum resolution of your television or monitor). Close the menu to confirm the selection.
