How to Buy a Floor Jack Transmission Adapter

    • 1). Park your vehicle on level ground and measure the diameter of your transmission. You will want to make sure that the transmission adapter will fit your transmission, which should not be an issue since transmission adapters are adjustable.

    • 2). Examine your hydraulic floor jack and determine the size of the saddle, and whether the saddle is removable. Many hydraulic jacks have a saddle shaft with a 1 5/32 inch or 1 1/8 inch saddle stud. You will want to make sure the saddle stud of your hydraulic jack will work with the input stud on the transmission adapter.

    • 3). Visit a local hardware store to review purchase options. Most major tool companies make transmission adapters, or sell transmission adapters produced by other major tool manufacturers. If you do not wish to visit a local hardware store, transmission jack adapters may be ordered on-line and directly shipped to you.
