    • 1). Select an area for the ground cover that receives at least six hours of sunlight every day. Myoporum prefers full sunlight, but can grow in partial shade. It will not thrive in completely shady areas.

    • 2). Till the soil for your planting area. If your soil is known for slow or ineffective drainage, mix in organic material such as manure or compost to aid in drainage. Myoporum is easily damaged by over watering or insufficient drainage.

    • 3). Dig a hole in your soil just large enough to accommodate the root system of your myoporum plant. If you are propagating the plant from cuttings, plant the cuttings three to four inches under the soil so that the sunlight and water can easily reach them.

    • 4). Insert the plant or cuttings into the hole you made. Back fill the hole, gently tamping the soil to eliminate air pockets.

    • 5). Water the newly-planted myoporum thoroughly, so that the top 10 inches of soil are moist. This initial heavy watering will help encourage the plant to take root in the new soil.
