How to Use a Global Positioning System (GPS)
- 1). Turn your GPS on by pressing the power button on the side or top of your device.
- 2). Plug your GPS into a wall outlet or a car outlet to charge it during or before use. During long car trips, it may be useful to keep your GPS plugged in so that it does not run out of batteries mid-trip, leaving you without directions.
- 3). Enter the "Search" feature from the main page of your GPS and type in the address of a location you are trying to find or navigate to.
- 4). Enter the street address, ZIP code, city name, state name, location name or type or location (for example: "Taco Bell," "restaurant," "auto repair") into the search field.
- 5). Press the mapping button and wait for your GPS to locate your current location and your destination.
- 6). Follow the directions given by your GPS to find your location, including projected arrival time, direction and distance.
