    Prepare the New Site

    • Before the moving truck arrives, take a look at the new setting to be sure you have clear access for the hot tub. You may need to remove a section of fence, trim some tree branches or bushes, take down a clothes line or move a stack of firewood. Whatever you need to do, you need to do it before moving day.

    Find the Right Company

    • Finding a company that will move a hot tub is like finding a piano mover. Some companies only move large items, such as spas, and others will move it for an extra charge. Hire a company that has moved a hot tub before. The moving company should give you a scheduled date and time for when they will be picking up the hot tub.

Some companies will deliver the hot tub to the new location but will not help place it where you want it to go. Some companies have enough manpower to move the hot tub where you want it, and others will expect you to have help available. It should not take more than three men to move a spa with the help of a dolly.

    Move the Hot Tub

    • Find out from the manufacturer if you need to remove the equipment pack from the hot tub before moving it. If there are any uneven areas that you must move the hot tub across, lay a sheet of plywood down to make the surface even. If the hot tub's new spot is inaccessible, you may need to rent a crane to lower it into place.

    Set Up the Hot Tub

    • When the spa is in the desired location, an electrician must wire it correctly. Turn the electrical power off at the panel. Check that all the valves are in the proper positions and the drain valve is closed. Clean the inside of the hot tub with a mild cleaner. Examine the filters to make sure they are seated correctly. Use the garden hose to fill the hot tub, then check it for leaks.

Turn the power back on at the panel, then turn the power on at the hot tub. Add the appropriate chemicals to balance the water per the manufacturer's instructions. The initial water heating will take eight to 24 hours, depending on the heater and hot tub size. Once it is heated, it is ready to use.
