Team Web pages can be automatically created using pre-programmed Web parts such as calendars, discussion boards, dashboards, contact lists, e-mail alerts, workspaces, blogs and wikis.

    • Microsoft Office SharePoint Server is the infrastructure that gives Microsoft Office clients a platform for collaboratively creating, managing and sharing documents and Web services. Office SharePoint Server enables users to create applications, shared work spaces, wikis, blogs and other documents normally only accessible through a Web browser. It is an application created using SharePoint Services as a platform.

    Differences

    • SharePoint Services provides team websites and work spaces, basic content and document management functionality and work-flow management capabilities. In addition to those features, Office SharePoint Server offers additional portal sites, user profiles and enhanced search capabilities. The main role of SharePoint Services is to create work spaces for small groups of users. The main purpose for Office SharePoint Server is as an enterprise-level portal designed to collaborate business intelligence and business documents that exist across multiple locations.
