How to Kill Leyland Cypress
- 1). Put on work gloves, protective eyewear, work boots and a hard hat. These items will help protect you from harm when cutting down the cypress.
- 2). Call your local garbage company, and ask how they would like you to dispose of limbs from the cypress. Many companies like you to bundle limbs with twine.
- 3). Cut the cypress down as close to the base as possible with your chainsaw.
- 4). Cut the shrub into limbs with the chainsaw. Bundle the limbs with twine. Place bundles by the road on your garbage pickup day.
- 5). Dig out all the roots with your shovel. The roots are shallow and should be easy to locate. No herbicides are necessary. Place all the roots in yard waste bags.
