How to Fix Chlorine in a Pool
- 1). Take a sample of pool water from about elbow depth from the surface of the pool.
- 2). Open the vial of your pool testing kit for chlorine and fill it to the fill line with the water sample.
- 3). Put in the testing chemical into the vial and shake it. Compare the color of the water to the color chart included with the kit. Note the chlorine levels.
- 4). Locate the measurement chart on your pool shock packaging and find the reading you got from your test. Measure out the recommended amount of pool shock.
- 5). Pour the pool shock into the pool and let it sit for a few hours. Test the chlorine levels again. The chlorine should be between 1 and 3 parts per million. Let the pool sit until it reaches this level before letting anyone swim in it.
