How to Draw Graffiti Letters Step-by-Step
- 1). Use the Internet to search for images of graffiti letters for reference. These images will help you draw your letters in the correct way and give you inspiration. The bubble style is popular, as is the shadow style but there are plenty to choose from.
- 2). Write out a word that you want to be written in the graffiti style. Remember to leave plenty of space in between each letter so that you have room to draw your graffiti-style letters around them. Remember that you want to sketch only faint lines with a pencil. Avoid erasing too much.
- 3). Experiment with different sizes and styles, remembering to keep your pencil lines both faint and loose. Avoid any details at this stage as they are not important yet.
- 4). Decide which style you will emulate and clean up the drawing. Do this by taking your fine liner pen and going over the pencil lines you want to keep. After, on one side of the letter use very thick lines (you may need a marker pen for this) and on the other, keep the lines thin, this will create form and make the letters stand out.
- 5). Add details only at this stage, once you have the overall style and shape of the letters complete. Use your pencil to add details faintly then your fine liner once you have finalized them. After this, add color and shading with some marker pens. Use a dark color for the shaded parts of the letter, which are often on the bottom of the letters and either the right or left side. Block in the rest of the letters with your preferred color.
