    • 1). Treat leaf curl caused by leafminers on trees younger than four years of age. Older trees weather the problem on their own. Leafminers are small Mexican moths that lay their eggs on citrus trees. Their larvae's feeding damages new leaves, causing them to curl. Apply an insecticide containing imidacloprid to kill the larvae. Time the application to coincide with the unfurling of new foliage. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for the application rates for the brand you selected.

    • 2). Increase irrigation when drought has caused leaf curling. Soak the tree once a week to a depth of 3 feet. Distribute the water in a circle around the tree that expands from the base to the drip line, the reach of the outermost branch.

    • 3). Dislodge aphids and Asian citrus psyllid, whose feeding causes the lime foliage to curl, with strong jets of water. Spray them with a blend of 1 tbsp. of dishwashing detergent and 1 gallon of water. Drench the insects with the solution to kill them.
