How to Get a High Gloss Finish on a Vinyl Floor
- 1). Remove furniture from the floor. Use casters to prevent scratching. Don't use protective materials composed of rubber; rubber may permanently stain the vinyl.
- 2). Sweep the vinyl floor with a broom.
- 3). Mop the floor with water-based dish soap. Don't use chemical cleansers; these may damage the vinyl. Rinse the floor and allow it to dry.
- 4). Rinse all of the soap from the mop; this is critical, as you will use the mop to apply the vinyl finish.
- 5). Pour the liquid vinyl floor finish into a shallow paint pan; do not pour the finish directly over the vinyl.
- 6). Apply a light coat of vinyl floor finish with the mop. Do not allow the liquid to pool. Spread a uniform finish across the floor. Let the vinyl finish dry for two hours.
