How to Download Music to a Zune

    • 1). Connect Zune MP3 player to your computer via USB cable. Once the connection is detected, an indicator will appear above your computer's taskbar in the lower right corner of the screen. (If the connection is not detected, see resources.)

    • 2). Open Windows Media Player. Click on the Windows Media Player icon on your computer's desktop screen or taskbar. When the program opens, the Microsoft Zune logo and device identifier should be displayed in the left pane of the Windows Media Player application.

    • 3). Import music to your Windows Media Player. Press F3 on your computer's keyboard. Click "OK" at the bottom of the Import screen. Allow your songs to be imported into Windows Media Player from your hard drive.

    • 4). Open the "Sync" pane for your Windows Media Player. The Sync pane serves as a downloading amenity to transfer your music files to your Zune. Click on the "Sync" tab in the upper right corner of your Windows Media Player. The Sync pane will appear on the right side of the screen.

    • 5). Select the songs you want to download. Click on the "Library" tab at the top of the program. This action will display all of the songs that are now stored in your Windows Media Player. Press and hold down the CTRL key on your computer's keyboard. Click once on each song you desire to download to your Zune. Each song will then be highlighted blue.

    • 6). Download the songs to your Zune. Drag the highlighted music files to your Sync pane on the right side of the screen. Once all of the music files appear in the Sync pane, click on the "Start Sync" action. All of the music files you are downloading will appear in the middle pane of the screen.
