How to Remove Lichen on Outdoor Plants in Florida
- 1). Mix tribasic copper sulfate and water in the tank of a tank mix sprayer at a rate of 4 tablespoonfuls per gallon of water. Turn on the agitator of the tank to mix.
- 2). Add a spreader-sticker agent to the mix at a rate recommended by the packaging instructions. Spreader-stickers are substances manufactured to help a spray stick to the tree when you treat it. Many of these agents are silicone based. You can purchase a spreader-sticker agent in the same location you purchased the tribasic copper sulfate.
- 3). Pressurize the tank of the sprayer by pressing a button to activate the tank's air compressor, or by working a pump.
- 4). Point the spray wand at the lichen, and spray the chemical over it. Pass the wand over your tree using an even grid pattern. Be careful to keep the tribasic copper sulfate off the tree's foliage. The lichen will die in the presence of the copper sulfate in the solution.
