How to Draw Anime People Faces

    • 1). Get the eyes right. The most common types of eyes for anime characters are open in the center with pointed ends. Start by drawing a circle. Draw a line on top of it going left to right (for the upper eyelid), and then draw a line on the bottom of the circle also going left to right. Do not connect these lines. You now have a basic anime eye, and you can experiment by changing the shapes of the lines.

    • 2). Create facial expressions for your anime face by drawing different kinds of eyebrows. The eyebrows on anime characters are usually just a line drawn into different shapes, so the hardest part will be getting the right shape. Start with basic eyebrows going straight across over the eye. Then try angling the eyebrows to make basic happy, mad, sad and surprised looks.

    • 3). Notice that most anime characters have very simple noses. Some are just two dots, some are a little triangle peeking out of the face, and some are a line going down the face with a swell at the bottom. Whatever nose you decide to draw on your character, remember that the most prominent characteristic on an anime face is the eyes, so draw your noses small compared to the eyes.

    • 4). Experiment with the mouth once you've drawn the eyes and nose of your anime character. Anime mouths are generally straight lines when the mouth is closed and a full circle with a little tongue inside when the mouth is open. Play around with the mouth being open and closed.

    • 5). Draw the hair for your anime face before you draw the head. Hair is basically just straight lines (or curved lines if you want curly hair), but it can really make your character. Start above the eyebrows and draw outward. For longer hair, make sure it gets wider as it grows. Once you have the hair you want for your character, draw the head by making a pointy upside-down oval (for the chin). You can change your character's hair, but most anime characters will have the same simple pointy-chin shape for a face.
